In recent months, the conversation surrounding mental health in the industry has seen a positive shift. Organizations and professionals are recognizing the need to prioritize mental well-being, and we are honored to continue leading those conversations with our collaborative efforts at ECCHO Live. With 17 dedicated board members, including six new leaders bringing expertise in finance, legal matters, touring, and mental health, our nonprofit is stronger than ever.
From the vibrant energy of the CMA Touring Awards to impactful initiatives within our All Access programming, the commitment to mental health is becoming a focal point of discussions across the industry. This movement is not just gaining attention; it is making tangible differences.
It's not about the recognition, but it sure bridges support!
In March, the CMA Touring Awards offered a spotlight on our mission, along with five other organizations pushing for improvements in mental health for the music industry. This recognition stemmed from a significant grant from the Country Music Association (CMA). Moments like these not only celebrate hard work but also encourage others in the industry to bridge meaningful actions toward mental wellness. For example, following this recognition, the number of inquiries regarding mental health resources increased by 30% among industry professionals, signaling a growing awareness and need for support.
Later in the month, ECCHO Live was prominently featured in an ACM Lifting Lives press release, alongside organizations like Music Health Alliance and Porter’s Call. This kind of visibility reinforces our initiatives' impact, ensures that they are being felt throughout the industry and makes connections for future growth.
April: National Stress Awareness Month
April is recognized as National Stress Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of understanding and managing stress in our lives. The clear message from this initiative is that mental health matters, particularly in our industry. By bringing discussions about stress to the forefront, ECCHO Live aims to reshape how mental health is viewed and addressed. This initiative has shifted from being merely a topic of conversation to a powerful movement.
Behind the scenes, we are working tirelessly to expand our Provider Network. The goal is to ensure confidentiality and make qualified coaches and counselors accessible to professionals. This is particularly significant in an industry where 60% of workers report feeling overwhelmed by stress at least once a month. By prioritizing these efforts, we hope we are paving the way for a healthier work environment in the fast pace of live events.
Ways to Cope with Stress
Practice Mindfulness: Engage in mindfulness meditation or deep-breathing exercises to help center your thoughts.
Stay Active: Regular physical activity can boost your mood and reduce stress levels.
Connect with Others: Reach out to friends, family, or colleagues to share your feelings and experiences.
Set Boundaries: Learn to say no and prioritize your tasks to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Take Breaks and Deep Breaths: Step away from your work periodically to recharge and gain perspective.
Seek Professional Help: Don’t hesitate to contact a counselor or coach if stress becomes unmanageable. ECCHO Live's All Access Program offers free sessions, up to four per year, to full time live event professionals, spouses and their dependents, across seven states and national telehealth options. You may submit for more information through our website.
Engaging "Day Off" and Networking Night Events
One of the highlights of our organization's initiatives is the "Day Off" events, which cultivate community and build connections among industry professionals. These gatherings, from sharing a meal and game at the MainLight Chili & Cornhole Competition to gaining insights during the Blackbird Studio Tour & Talk, have proven invaluable.
To date, 48 industry professionals have participated in these Day Off events. The sense of mentorship and support among attendees is strong. Securing three new sponsorships opens up further avenues for connection and learning, illustrating the expanding network of support available.
Mark your calendar to join us for our April Networking Night at 6th & Peabody! This event offers a unique opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, share experiences, and build valuable connections within our community. Whether you're looking to expand your professional network or simply seeking a supportive environment to unwind and engage with others, this evening promises to be both enjoyable and beneficial for your mental wellness.

Impactful Outcomes and Achievements
Since the start of the year, All Access has conducted 50 supportive sessions, and an impressive 50% of participants accessed mental health support for the first time. This statistic speaks volumes about the importance of such initiatives. It reflects the urgent need for continued and expanded mental health resources in the industry, especially considering that nearly 70% of workers in creative fields report experiencing burnout at some point in their careers.
Looking ahead, ECCHO Live's plans include rolling out financial advising scholarships and free webinars. This holistic approach acknowledges that mental health intersects with financial stability, empowering professionals to seek comprehensive support.
Expanding the All Access On Site (AAOS) program to 13 major festivals will ensure that even more professionals receive vital mental health support, especially during their busy schedules. Please check out the list of shows we will be at this year and help us spread the word.
The Path Ahead
As we move forward, it is crucial for professionals in the live event industry—both individuals and organizations—to champion mental health. The ECCHO Live movement is gaining momentum, and we need united efforts to ensure its sustainability.
Creating an open dialogue about mental health cultivates an environment where everyone feels safe and supported. It encourages professional growth, strengthens community ties, and leads to a healthier industry overall. Recognizing that mental health is intertwined with performance and creativity is essential. As we navigate the complexities of our careers, aligning our passions and minds can help us thrive both professionally and personally.
Every stride made steers us toward a future where mental health is prioritized and openly discussed in the live event industry. By amplifying our voices, sharing our experiences, and supporting one another, we can ensure that the message persists—clear and resonant.
